Evanger's #GetPetHealthy Nutritionist Question of the Week: Why Does My Dog Chew on the Walls?

Every week we have a contest on our Facebook Page, and invite Evanger's feeders to ask a nutrition question about their pet.  Our Certified On-Staff Nutritionist picks one question to weigh in on.  Here are this week's question and answer.

Question from Desiree B:
Why does my dog like to chew on the walls? We have toys for them to play with all over the house.

Answer:
Most likely, the wall chewing is behavioral rather than a nutrition issue. The dog might be stressed or bored.  Try giving your dog a toy that will use his mental capabilities like a puzzle.

But dogs with trace mineral deficiencies do sometimes eat inappropriate substances. Be sure to feed one of the Evanger's complete and balanced dry foods plus a canned supplemental meat like the 13-oz Hunk of Beef. This should help satisfy any weird cravings.

If your cats or dog are ill, a veterinarian might recommend and supervise supplementation. Otherwise, if you are feeding Evanger's nutrient dense, high meat content dry and canned foods, your cats and dog do not need any additional supplements.

Thanks for writing in!  We host a #GetPetHealthy every Monday on our Facebook Page.  The winner receiving a free bag of Jerky Treats, so check in on Mondays at https://www.facebook.com/Evangers.
