Why Choose “Made in the U.S.A.”?

This 4^th of July weekend, we are all thankful to enjoy our freedom as Americans. Here at Evanger’s we also take pride in the fact that all of our products have not only made in the USA, right here in our own kitchens, since 1935, but that they are also made with USA farm grown ingredients. All of our packaging is also made in the USA, right down to the shrink wrap used on cases of dog and cat food.

What does it really mean to be Made in the USA? The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulates all claims of “Made in the USA” on labels for human and pet products alike. In order to make such a claim, virtually all ingredients, as well as packaging and production processes, must originate in the United States. We feel that being “Made in the USA” is extremely important for pet food, as it ensures more stringent quality control of ingredients. It also means that we are supporting local businesses and farmers, while helping to keep both costs and our carbon footprint low by minimizing the travel of our supplies.

At Evanger’s, 90% of ingredients are collected within 50 miles of our manufacturing facility and are used within 24 hours. We have never been involved in a product recall, either voluntarily or mandatorily, and are proud to claim that every product sold is “Made in the USA”, fully complies with AAFCO requirements, and has received top ratings from the highly-respected go-to dog food resource The Whole Dog Journal.
