Did you know that over 50% of dogs and cats in the United States are overweight? Maybe it's an extra treat here and there (and there, and there), or maybe it's just letting the dog outside instead of a good 20 - 30 minute walk. Or, maybe it's just a carbohydrate-based diet instead of foods that provide loads of natural nutrition your pets' body is able to absorb.
Well, here's the story of the adorable Shih Tzu, Tiddly Winks. We learned about Tiddly Winks through Instagram. Tiddly Winks' parents shop at a wonderful independent boutique called Licker and Whine, who were able to recommend a new food regimen to help this shih tzu shed a few extra pounds while feeling full, satiated, and happy. Here's a message from Tiddly Winks:Tiddly Winks the Shih Tzu sheds almost 20% body weight with an Evanger's Diet After struggling for a year with getting his weight down, Tiddlywinks is now just around the corner from his goal weight. At his highest weight, he was a whopping 23 pounds, and he's now down to 18.9! We're not quite there yet, but we're very close! He's done so well and he's looking great! We have to send a huge thank you to @lickerandwhine for suggesting his new food regimen and to @weruva and @evangers_pets for making such good, high quality food. We could not be happier.
A very special thank you to Licker and Whine, and Tiddly Winks, for sharing your success story with us!

As your pets' caretaker, your job is to provide them with good hygiene habits at home as well as at the vet's or groomer's. Brushing their teeth, combing their coats and providing them with healthy food all keeps them in tip-top shape. To stay on track with responsible pet care, schedule hygiene and grooming tasks in your calendar and try combining tasks, such as a comforting comb after trimming nails, until it becomes routine.
